During the 2018 FHS Career Fair, students started the day with an excellent presentation by Joe Eckhardt of Edward Jones here in Lewistown.  Students then participated in four job experience explanatories during the day and had a chance to visit with many of the employers, professionals and business owners in Lewistown and around the state.  Students came to the fieldhouse for lunch, visiting with a gym full of tables providing multiple opportunities for students to learn more, and ask questions about, careers in many different career and employment areas.

Lewistown Junior High GIS Club 8th graders, along with teachers Susan Flentie and Katherine Spraggins, presented their winning GIS project to the Montana Association of Geographic Information Professionals on April 18th at the 2018 Big Sky GeoCon.

The presentation was based on the groups winning project in Samsung's "Solve for Tomorrow" technology competition earlier this winter.  The goal of the project was to use technology to improve and coordinate relief efforts during in the event of a natural or man-made disaster.  As a part of the project, the group worked with and refined their prototype app called EnviroMaster.

Lewistown Schools Utilize Lock Out Procedures

Keeping Schools Safe

On Monday, October 2nd, 2017, at approximately 12:00 p.m. the Lewistown School District was contacted by local law enforcement and advised of a potential threat. The reported threat was of an adult male, in a neighboring county, who was armed and had made threatening statements towards law enforcement.

Although there was no indication that the suspect was in or around the Lewistown area, as a precautionary measure, the Lewistown School District and it’s officials, decided to have all Lewistown schools go into a LOCK OUT status.

LOCK OUT is a safety procedure used by the School District to instruct students to return inside their schools. All exterior doors are locked, main entrances are supervised and visitors to the schools are identified before access is permitted. Activities and classes inside the school buildings proceed as normal.

The District was notified at approximately 1:40 p.m. that the suspect was taken safely into custody by law enforcement and the LOCK OUT status was cancelled. All schools have returned to their normal schedules and procedures. In addition, all buses will be running on their normal schedule.

The District is very proud of the response of all staff and students during the LOCK OUT and as always the safety of our students is the number one priority of the district.
